As I opened the door, the scent of blood hit me. Afraid of what I would see, I glanced around the corner to see Dante sitting on the bed covered in blankets. He looked up and met my gaze. "Hey hon."
I walked over to the bed and sat down next to him. "What happend?" I asked him.
"We were attacked. Defias." His voice was shaking, as if he was still scared.
"How many?"
"Felt like a hundred. But I don't know..."
"Shh" I whispered. "Here, sit back against the bedpost instead." As he did, I put my palm on his chest. His skin was warm, his heart surging in an even pump. I noticed that he had several scars, old scars, beneath the blood that was dripping from a neckwound. "You're not afraid of hurting me", he said. "You've told me before that you were afraid of brushing my cheek. But now you are touching my chest like you're not."
I pursed my lips and smiled. "It's weird... It's never happend to me before. But you are the first one I've ever done this with so... I wouldn't know." I took the bowl of water and a blanket to clean up his wounds. He stroked my long, silky hair and breathed heavily. "Tell me a story."
I met his gaze. "You sure?" When he nodded, I went over to the bookshelf and pulled out a book. 'House of Aroth'. It seemed fitting. As I sat down on the bed, he pulled me closer and I began to read outloud;

"What's happening to me?"
I groaned in pain as my body started to shake uncontrollably.
Blake was the first one that came to my room. "Ahh, it's happening."
"What is?!" I yelled. He called for Lin to come watch, and that got me pissed off. Lin smiled when she saw me.
Blake took my arm and led me to a mirror. As I stood there and looked at myself, I noticed that something was different. My golden eyes were no longer there and my white skin was no longer white. It was bluetinted and my eyes now had a pale color of blue. When my body stopped shaking, it felt as though I was pushed back in my own body. I lost control of my body and something else moved inside of me. I heard Blake say;
"Welcome."
My body turned around and faced him. "This world is not how I left it." My voice had gotten darker and more... unfriendly.
"What's your name?" Blake asked it.
My fingers moved across my face, tracing the line of my nose, my mouth and my cheekbones. "Analisse", my voice said.
I tried to scream in my head. Hello? I asked.
'Hello Andarana. Thank you for setting me free.'
What? No! Let me go!
'I can not do that. Your body is bound to me now. I could not change that if I cared to.'
I screamed as loud as I could, but nothing came out so Lin and Blake could hear me. I saw Blake approaching my body and then he put his mouth on mine. Then I was back in my body.
"What the heck are you doing?!"
He chuckled. "Was she friendly?"
"What the heck is she?"
"A soul. Don't worry, you two will work things out."
Then I saw memories passing by. Her memories. A field filled with flowers. A dark forest. And in the middle, a woman.
"I didn't ask for this." I sighed.
And then she talked back to me in the memory. 'Why can't I stay?'

There were lots of books laying around the room as I entered the living room in our house. Dante hadn't noticed that I had come home, he was busy burrying his face in a book.
"Dante?" I asked.
He looked up quickly. "Ohh! You're home!"
"Yeah". I looked around the room. "What's all this?"
"I'm, eh, trying to find out stuff! About you, actually." He got up on his knees and threw his arms around me. "Welcome home."
I giggled. "I like the way you welcome me home."
He sat down on the floor again and told me to follow his lead.
"So I have a few questions, my love..." he began.
"Shoot" I replied.
He took out several books and threw them open and began to read his way through them as quickly as he could. "Ah!" he finally said. "Do you know how long you've lived?"
I shrugged. "Never keep track. But many centuries, I am sure."
"Hmm, hmm..." he said. "Do you know what you are?"
I pulled the silk robe I was wearing more tightly around me. "No."
"I might know what you have been a victim to!" he said with a cheerful voice.
I narrowed my eyes. "Oh?"
"Yes... Ever heard of corporeal?"
I shrugged. "Not really."
"Well I think..." he bagan. "... that you are a corporeal ghost. Considering your strenght and age, that sounds the most possible way to your way of living."
"Yeah, maybe."

My footsteps lead me to our old house in Westfall. It's in ruins now, with gnolls surrounding it. Our old belongings are burried in the ground below.
I walk up the mountains and find our meadow. Three trees in the middle, forming a circle. From the mountains we used to watch the twilight and sunset. I wrap my arms around my stomach. Sobs comes out of me like sneezes: fast, hard, shoking in their ferocity.

Linaah stared at the old house. She heard the laughter of a family, which made her smirk. She sniffed the air and caught the scent of five people. Five people in such a small, old house in Westfall. Maybe, she thought, they would actually think she’s hurt?
“Help!” she yelled, crawling on the ground, approaching the house. The father stepped out of the house, and the mother followed. He approached Lin and grabbed her arms, lifting her up from the ground.
“What happened, miss?” the mother asked. The father carried Lin into the house and put her down on a bench. Three children were staring at her, staring right through her, like they could see her soul. Lin’s eyes bored into theirs and they shivered. A teenage boy, a young girl by the age of 10 and a two year old son. Younglings, such a shame.
The mother repeated her question. “What happened, miss?”
Linaah looked up into their eyes and replied. “Death was such a neutral word back in my days. As unjudged a word as water or breeze.”
The father grabbed a sword and pointed it at her. “Who are you?”
She laughed with satisfaction.
“Answer the question!” the mother yelled at her. She was now protecting her kids, shielding them from Lin with her body.
“That won’t work, you know, ma’Am.” she told her.
Lin slid up from the bench and grabbed the father’s arm and flipped him on to the ground. She stomped on his chest, nailing him down. She took her dagger and aimed it at his troth. “Come near me, and I’ll kill him.” She shrugged, and continued “Hell, I’ll kill him anyways.” She bent down quickly and stabbed the father in the eye. She threw one of her other daggers at the mother, and it hit her in the stomach. She fell to the ground, screaming in pain. The teenage boy picked up his younger brother and took his sister’s hand. They began to run out of the house, but then they screamed. Lin, as curious as she always is, went outside and looked at the two girls standing outside.
“Andie. Kate.” She bowed her head politely. “What brings you to Westfall on such a beautiful night?”
“Lin, we can’t let you do this. “ Andie’s voice was velvety, showing no kind of fear. Kate just stared at Lin, prepared to fire off a frostball at her.
“Enjoying some killing. You two used to like it back in the day. Or wait, you two have gone good-girls now. Why don’t I just kill you and get it over with?”
“Dear sister,” Kate said. “You are in no position to make threats. Is this what you wanted to be when we were young? Killing families? For fun? I do not think so, sister. You are pathetic. Just trying to show off your talent. Yes, we know that you’re good at killing, but you do not need to prove it to everyone else. Look at these kids, “she gestured towards the children who were hiding behind Andie. “They are afraid of you. Is that what you want? You love Andie’s daughter. Do you wish for her to see her aunt do this to a family?”
Lin sighed and fell to the ground. Her blood red hair was covering her face, but the sobs were too loud for her to hide. Kate went over to Linaah and brushed her cheek. “Sister mine, no need to suffer. You did something awful tonight, and a sorry isn’t good enough for you to say to these kids. Run, sister mine. We shall take care of them.”
And Lin ran, fast as she could. Her sisters were always right. She was the bad girl. Something she never intended to be. She had dreamt about being in an army, using her skills in combat. Instead she killed off families every week. She was weak.

Katherine looked at the kids. “Do you have grandparents?”
The kids nodded.
“Good.” She smiled at them. They were afraid of her. It showed in their eyes. “I am no danger to you. Me and my sister Andie over there, we are not dangerous. You can trust us. We scared the bad girl away. Sleep, rest. We shall take you to your family. “As the kids closed their eyes, but still shaking of fear, Andie began to sing. Her voice rising and falling, skipping octaves, soaring high, fall low. Kate’s sister might be the quiet girl, but she sang like an angel. Such talent shouldn’t go wasted in an army, Kate thought.

I took a deep breath. Birds were singing, and the smell of the trees in the forest made me smile. It was a perfect place to rest. I took a flower in my hand and started to play with it. Kate were asleep next to me, and Lin were standing in the middle of the meadow, looking around. She was suspicious, I could tell. The way her nouse kept going up, she was smelling something. And it wasn't us. We weren't alone. I had felt it all day, but didn't say anything.
"Lin, stop worrying." I told her.
We both heard a sharp noice, a hundred feet away from us. Lin turned around quickly and growled. But what came out of the bushes wasn't a humanoid. A bear. How silly of us to react to something like that.
"As I said..." I said again.
She pursed her lips. "I am not fond of this idea, sister mine."
"The fight is coming, sister. We both know it. Smell it. Sense it. We need to rest till that day comes."
Kate woke up and blinked a couple of times before she realised that she had fallen asleep. "Woah. My apologies."
"Sleep is good, sister mine." Lin told her, and spun around again. She grabbed her dagger and pointed it out into thin air.
Or that was what I thought atleast.
Men came out of the woods and entered the meadow. Must have been fifty of them. They were in full battle-armor. Ohh, the joy.
"Good evening, boys!" Lin called out.
Me, Kate and Lin shared a glance. Kate and I got up on our legs and stood next to Lin. The men surrounded us in no time and what seemed to be the leader, stepped closer to Lin. "Ladies." He bowed his head to us and dropped his weapons on the ground. "We mean you no harm."
This was a lie. Definately. What else were they hunting in these woods? All the citizens of Kalimdor knew that these woods were harmless. Nothing came in, nothing came out. These woods were silent as the grave.
"Is that so?" she asked him.
He nodded his head and his eyes went to his men. They stepped closer to us. Forming a tight circle. We were now totally surrounded. No way we were getting ourselves out of this the easy way.
"Then move your men away from us, sir." I told him with a soft voice.
He chuckled once. Twice. And then he looked at Kate and myself. "Twins, boys." He laughed and he glanced at his men.
That's it.
Kate attacked him immediately, and jumped up into his arms. She grabbed his head and crushed it back so we heard the neck brake. Lin were attacking her side of the group and I were on mine.

"Now that is what I call fun."
We all laughed and walked out of the woods and into an open field. But something wasn't quite right. I smelled death and it was close.
We got up on a hill and glanced down at the horror.
"What the - " we all began to say but we couldn't finish our sentances.
A massacre. Thousands of corpse were laying around. So that's why I smelled death. How horrible. Sure, me and my sisters were murderers but this was out of control. A youngling. Or someone... who is trying to impress us. Or a trap.
A trap. Definately.
Lin took a step forward to run down the hill, but I stopped her just in time.
"Get down!"
They both obeyed me and I glanced over the hill, but didn't see anything in particular. I sniffed the air and caught the scent of... humanoids. Among those dead people, there were also humans.
"It's a trap. There are humans among them."
"How many?" Lin asked me.
"I can't tell from this distance."
Kate smirked. A grim whistle came out of her mouth. "Well, there is only one way to find out."
We smiled and stood up. My voice was dark but soft. "Let's go to work, sisters."

As we ran down the hill, the birds began to sing once again. It was a beautiful day. When we got to the middle of the field, we stopped dead. The soldiers began to rise and got up with sword in their hands.
"It is over, girls", the oh-so-very famous Lieutenant told us. We had encountered him before.
We hissed and got into our fighting positions.
"The fight is never over, boys." Lin voice was loud, loud enough to wake up the entire forest.

(( Note that this is before she went all goodie-goodie. So this picture represents the twins, Kate and Andie. Andarana looks so much healthier now, of course. ))

(( Song to listen to while reading! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2Ma4BvMUwU&feature=related ))

As his eyes went blank and the blood poured down my white dress, I just sat there. I looked down at his handsome face which was turning more and more white as seconds passed. I smoothed his blonde hair back, which he no longer needed. I sat there and stared. I felt numb in my body, like I no longer controlled it. My hands were shaking and it felt like my face was burning off my skin. The tears I had saved all these years were falling down, all the way down my cheeks till it hit his. As I sat there in my mourning moment, I heard voices. They were calling my name, and his name. As I heard footsteps approach, I didn't bother looking up. I just stared and went numb.
Erin's voice got closer. "Andie! Oh god, NO!" she screamed, and I knew she had seen his body in my arms. She got down on her knees infront of me and my eyes met hers. "I'm so sorry, Andie. God, I'm so sorry, I..." Her voice drifted off, tears falling down her face. Jonathan and Vendela approached the meadow, and they began to scream aswell. As I sat there and held his body, I felt completely empty. My life is...
Over.
"Andie, sweetheart, please... Help us help you," Jonathan told me. He got down on his knees infront of me, pushing Erin aside and cradled Dante's body in his arms, lifting him up. Erin got me up on my legs and led me over to a bench close by. As I sat down, I remembered something. I had to... go! I should tell them why. I wanted to talk, but I had no memory of how to use my voice. I moaned in agony, remembering his face. His last words. The smile.
I screamed inside my body, trying to break down every wall I have, so it would come out on the outside. But nothing. Not a squeek. I blinked rapidly, focusing my eyes on my hands.
"Andie, hon, are you all right?" Erin asked me. My eyes went to hers and she gasped. "Guys, her eyes!" Vendela ran over to me and bent down. "Oh god, no..." her voice drifted off. "Why are they black, Erin?!"
Black, yes?
Then here we were. I would finally leave this world. I felt so empty. It hurt me on the inside, if he was alive, he would make everything so much better. But no... I went blank. Just as his eyes.

Always.

My legs began to run away, far far away from the only people left who cared about how I felt. Empty, empty, empty, empty, empty.
Always.

NO! I could not let this defeat me. But it was. Tearing down every thing I had built, kept safe for all my life. But then I heard a laugh. A soft, feminine laugh out of satisfaction. "Sister mine, mourn well, are you?"
I turned around and faced it. My voice got back to me, every sense.
"You."
"Yes, it's me. Your beloved sister Linaah. Missed me much? Or should I ask Dante that?"
I ran once again away. How could she...
The tears were pouring out of me like a waterfall.
Waterfall. That had to be it.
Do what you have to do, Analisse told me.
Thank you.

I looked down at the ledge. It was very steep, but so was the way here. No going back, Andie. No going back.
So this was how it was all going to end. If I had only thought of this earlier.
The fresh wind hit my nose and I lost my balance, and fell.

How would Andarana die?

"Am I dead?"
My eyes bored into Dante's. This wasn't right, he's dead. Wait, that must mean I'm dead too. But... I thought I would die in such a cooler way. Not like this.
"No, you are not, my love." His voice was the same. He looked real. A corporeal ghost perhaps? Yeah, that had to be it.
I looked around. We were in our meadow, but it looked like some kind of portal between the triangle of trees. I approached it slowly, my steps leading me forward but I got pulled back by heavy male arms.
"There is still some time left, Andie. Don't go yet."
"What is that?" I pointed towards the portal. I could on such a far distance see something in there, but wasn't sure if it was a human or not.
"Paradise... Honey and the moon." He pulled me into his arms and I grabbed on to his waist, not wanting to let go. So long have I waited for this moment. I just didn't think we would meet again under these circumstanses.
And then I fell to the ground, shaking in pain. Such horrifying pain. It felt as though my organs were boiling. Was I on fire?!
His arms went around my body and he pulled me once again against his body, placing my upper body on his knees. "Shh." he whispered. "It won't hurt much longer. And when it's over, we'll be together."
Always.
He rocked my body back and forward till it finally stopped shaking. I looked into his deep, blue eyes and smiled. I got up from the ground and I took his hand. He led me to the portal and I walked with him...
Into paradise.

A slight breeze touched the tendrils of hair around my face. Dawn was coming, and it was a beautiful sight. I was leaning back against a tree and the only sound I could hear was the sea that was so close to me.
Hidden in the very south of Kalimdor, was my home. A big, empty cave it was when I arrived. Kate had made it more homey with rugs on the walls and lots of fabrics at the entrance. It was clear that females were living there. My bed was in the big "hall", and it was nothing special about it. Black, black, black. The only thing that stood out when I was sleeping there was my white skin. As much as I stay out in the sun, I won't get the same tone as Lin's sunbrown skin. Which is fine with me, I like being intimidating.

"Andie, humans are approaching." Kate told me and ran into the cave, she was probably going to hide her precious books.
Three men in a boat were coming east of the shore. I got up on my feet and stood there and looking as majestic as I could.
"There is nothing for you here, pirates. Shoo." I growled.
One man jumped out of the boat and I grabbed my sword. "We are not pirates. We are here to ask for your help."
"And what do we get out of it?" I asked, shifting my eyes back and foward between the men.
"Freedom."
I pursed my lips. "What is your name?"
"Johnathan Miller." He looked at me and smiled. "Yeah, it's me Andie."
-------
I stared at my old friend Andarana and she was so not the same. It was almost scary. Her skin was blue tinted and her eyes no longer had the warm gold color she used to have. Well, she had found a leather outfit that fit her skeleton body perfectly atleast. She looked ill with those dark rings underneath her eyes.
"John, I told you to stay away from me." Her voice. So hollow and empty, the same voice she devoloped after Dante's death. She sounded more like a ghost now.
"And I refused to obey you, my old friend. Now, you look terrible."
She tried to smile but it just looked sad. My old friend was gone, you could see it in her pale eyes. "Andie?"
"It's no longer me, John. Just..." She sighed and brushed her hair back. "What do you want?"
"Come back to Stormwind with us. I've heard of a group of people who need your help."
"An army?"
"Yes, Andie."
"Named?" she asked.
I smiled at her. She's interested. Phew. I couldn't have one of my closest friend living as a nomad. "Stormwind Militia."
She laughed. "Catchy."

Soldiers of the night

Analisse brushed her golden hair back from her face. Her two sisters were standing around the big table in the middle of the room, and they also had silky golden hair falling down in waves, all the way down their backs.
Arli looked back at Analisse with a smirk. “They are ready, sister mine.”
Analisse nodded, tracing the lines of the book in front of her with her fingertips. “Anthea, hurry up with what you are doing and let us show the world what they should fear.”
Anthea, the smallest one of the sisters, bowed her head politely and walked out the room and came back quickly with a staff. “Ready.”
The three of them were all dressed in red leather that showed off every incredible inch of them. The Angels of Death, the local villagers used to call them, and with good reason. Analisse, Arli and Anthea walked out of their castle that was hidden near a lake in the woods. The white castle stood out from the rest of the environment. With its frightening towers that were so high, you could almost believe they reached all the way up to the edge of the sky.
The sisters were always guarded, wherever they went, and now it was time for battle. The sisters placed themselves on the top of a ledge and looked over their army. They were fewer in numbers than what they were up against, but stronger. So much stronger.
Analisse, who had given herself the rank of Commander, raised her voice. “Brothers and sisters!” The crowd cheered.
“This is the time. The time you have all waited for!” Analisse voice was flat of emotion, barely an echo of a once great and feminine voice.
“To never die and to conquer all, that is winning. You learn to destroy everything that is not utterly yours. All that matters is victory. That is how your reign persists!”
“My brothers and sisters, let’s give them something to remember.”
And with that, the crowd turned their attention to the north, where the main target lied ahead. The Commander of the investigation to assassinate the sisters had his best fighters surrounding him in his mansion.
As they were walking through the dark forest, Analisse picked up a noise. It was close and it smelled like elves. It got closer and closer, and then she caught the sight of several elves wearing combat armor and held their spears close to their chests, like they were scared and thought keeping it close to them made it better.
“Halt.” Anthea had seen them as well and the warriors snarled around them. Thirsty for war.
The Commander they were looking for came forward through the woods and met the sisters half way on the meadow. He brought his best fighter Dundril with him. Even though Dundril was an experienced champion of war, he feared the sisters. With their angelic looks and strength, they sure made it difficult for people to not fear them.
“Analisse, stop this madness.” The Commander dragged his long, dark hair back and sighed. “Whatever happened to you three, we can find a way to stop it.”
Arli titled her head to the side and stared at him with her emerald green eyes that made her look more like an animal. “You reek of frustration. It curls off of you like smoke.”
“He has every reason to. His three sisters turned into demonic beings that enjoys to destroy lives.” Dundril said with a raised weapon, pointing it at Anthea. “And the woman I thought I knew, well, she is long gone, is she not?”
Anthea smirked and looked at her old lover. “My love, why do you fear me?”
“Enough!” Analisse raised her voice. “Your opinion of us weighs less than sunlight.”
“If you want to win a war, you must serve no master but your own ambition.” Analisse lowered her swords and dropped them on the ground. “You are moral, Marklon, our beloved brother. A true ruler is as moral as a hurricane, empty but for the force of his gale.”
“So be it. I loved my sisters. But they are no more.” He raised his arm and out from the crowd, three women dressed in white robes approached. They were carrying three delicate urns with elfin marks on them. “These will trap you in this dimension for all of eternity. Farewell, Analisse, Anthea and Arli.” The women opened the urns and a wind built up from the ground and circled the sisters. Their army came running forward but were stopped by an invisible shield that had formed around the meadow. For a moment, the sisters’ eyes changed back to their normal color. Marklon gasped and waved his hand at the women with the urns, demanding them to stop. But it was too late. The sisters were already fading into the wind.
“Be of good fortune Marklon. May your feet follow a level path and the night fall gently upon your shoulders.” Analisse managed to whisper before her soul got trapped inside the urn, locking her away forever.

But they managed to get out. They found hosts to hold their souls and they would stay young forever. And continue the torture.
